Voor KONT02 maakten 26 makers uit verschillende disciplines en generaties in duo’s en -trio’s nieuw werk !!

26 makers uit allerlei artistieke disciplines en generaties - beeldende kunstenaars, designers, dansers, schrijvers, filosofen... werden door KONT in duo’s of trio’s aan elkaar of aan een bepaalde instelling (een klein museum of een non-profit-instelling) gekoppeld. Ze werden gestimuleerd om in dialoog nieuw werk te creëren. Alle bijdragen zijn speciaal voor KONT gemaakt.

KONT is door deze aanpak anders dan een normaal magazine, het is in feite een kunstwerk an sich! Al het werk wordt op Eindhovense bodem gerealiseerd, maar KONT heeft ook een internationaal publiek voor ogen. Het is tweetalig: Nederlands en Engels.

Het spannende aan dit concept zit in het gegeven dat artiesten uit diverse achtergronden samen iets nieuws maken en dat zij bij aanvang dus nog geen idee hebben wat ze zullen maken. Alle werken zijn ontstaan uit de optelsom van hun individuele gedachtengoed en geven een rijke blik op de wereld om ons heen.

KONT is een initiatief van Griet Menschaert, tevens hoofdredacteur. Zij is professioneel kunstenaar en schrijver. Ieder jaar nodigt zij nieuwe co-curatoren en een nieuwe vormgever uit. Zo is de uitkomst van KONT steeds een totale verrassing! (Alleen de maat blijft steeds gelijk.)

KONT02 werd ge-co-cureerd door inmiddels afgestudeerd student Beeldende Kunst Wessel Verrijt (AKV St. Joost) en social designer Annegret Bönemann.

KONT biedt een alternatieve gemeenschap van makers - over disciplines en generaties heen - een platform en het verrijkt de lezer met nieuwe creaties en inzichten. KONT geeft haar makers veel individuele aandacht (slow), wat het uniek maakt. Als lezer van het blad, maak je ook individueel het resultaat mee (ook slow!).

- Nanne op ‘t Ende (artist-translator) / Mara Varelaki (art student)
Nanne will send photos from his wonderful actual archive to Mara by post and she will return them with words on their backs.

- Chris Hables Gray (activist/writer)/ Nazila Ahmadie (young writer) / Griet Menschaert (artist-writer) - they met during a workshop of The Watershed
Last letters - as if the writers would die today, letter to their beloved ones.

- Branly Lopez (Mayan spiritual supporter/artist)
Explanation on how to make a kyte to express gratefulness (maya culture). Being ready to
die at any moment.

- Vincent Dams (artist) / Luckie Delacroix (writer)
The Life story of the fictive Italian movie director, Enzo Diga (invention by Vincent Dams). Text written by Luckie. Illustrated with movie posters by Vincent.

- Carla Vermeltfoort (photographer) / Ties van der Werff (philosopher-scientist-writer)
Magic realistic photographic impressions of a visit to Leeuwarden Cultural Capital 2018 / combined with samples from a text on neurology+art / on ‘seeing/looking/watching’ by Ties.

- students Design Academy - Morane Grazzini, Eva Jack, Kodai Shimizu, Lukas Jurk
students from the Body Music / Hackathon project. Their ideas address new and unexpected ways of presenting speech visually in a printed manner, e.g. by playing with typography, readability and the materiality of paper.

- Dominique Vleeshouwers (percussionist) / Annegret Böhnemann (designer)
Dominique Vleeshouwers is a solo-percussionist - via TROMP. He works a lot with crossovers between audivisual and visual art. Annegret is a social designer. They will send sound and transcriptions of sound back and forth.

- Michel van Weegberg (photographer)/onterfd Goed
Michel will visit Onterfd Goed and use a selection he likes of their ‘organ-art’ objects to build romantic still lives and photograph them.

- Tommy Kohlbrugge (photographer) /Rawneal (bboy) / Wessel Verrijt (artist)
Breakdancer Ranil will be given ‘weird’ objects by Wessel to influence his moves. Tommy will make cool photos.

- Ylja Band (designer /communication)
Ylja will be making collages from all the makers.

- Lilia Scheerder (artist/performer) and Laiyan Cheng will both visit their favorite place in town
Lilia will make graphic etchings relating to the Final Letters and her favorite cemetary.
Laiyan Cheng (artist - just graduated AKV St Joost Den Bosch) will visit her favorite Asian restaurant.
